Thick lime-washed walls hold the cool of morning, an ochre skirt runs low against the dust, terracotta warms underfoot, and a timber pergola grows heavy with bougainvillea by August. Mornings gather around the outdoor table, bread broken while it's still warm; afternoons drift into the shade of the loggia, a book open on someone's lap, children close by. Nothing here is in a hurry, the pool holds the last of the day's light long enough for one more swim before dinner. Quinta do Vale isn't a house the family visits.
